Lone Pine Canyon
Canyons and Valleys
Lone Pine Canyon Description
Lone Pine Canyon runs east-west along the San Andreas Fault. Lone Pine Canyon is located east of Wrightwood (Swarthout Valley) with an extension of Blue Ridge running along the south wall and the ridge from Circle Mountain running along the north wall. Like Swarthout Valley, Lone Pine Canyon has other smaller canyons (such as Slover Canyon) which branch off of it. The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) actually crosses through Lone Pine Canyon at one point. In 2009, the Sheep Fire swept up Lone Pine Canyon toward the town of Wrightwood. The area has since then been recovering.
