Wrightwood Armed Robbers Nabbed

On Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at approximately 8:00pm, deputies responded to an armed robbery that had just occurred in the 1400 block of Highway 2 in Wrightwood. According to the 911 call, patrons had just been robbed in the parking lot outside the Grizzly CafÃ©.

According to the victims, they were getting out of their car when the suspect approached and brandished a handgun. The suspects then forced the victims back into their vehicle and demanded money and valuables. The suspects then left with a cell phone, the female victimâ€™s purse and jewelry. The suspects then fled in a small gray sedan.

Detective Robbi Debois and Detective Jeff Toll immediately started investigating the robbery. As a result of their investigation, on Friday August 19, 2011, Jessica Lynn Banfill (24) from Helendale and Harley Davidson Murphy (27) from Fontana were arrested for the August 9, 2011 robbery. It was determined through the investigation this was not a random robbery and the suspects were to some extent affiliated to victims. The investigation is ongoing.

Both suspects are currently being held at the Victor Valley Jail.

That's crazy. This stuff happens constantly where I work (San Bernardino) but you don't usually hear about it in Wrightwood. It is at least good to know that the suspects were somehow related to the victims, meaning the chance of these suspects hitting other Wrightwood residents is pretty slim.

On that note, I think burglaries are my biggest worry as a Wrightwood resident. My buddy just had a $1,500 generator stolen from his property. My dream would be to have someone burglarize my house... while I'm home. Target practice anyone? ;)
