Bears are becoming active in the Big Pines area

Just a heads up... we are seeing increasing bear activity in the Big Pines Recreation Area. This is pretty normal this time of year, but precautions still need to be taken.
A reminder while camping to use bear boxes and dumpsters, and while primitive camping (or where these services aren't provided), either pack your food in your vehicle (trunk is best) and/or make sure windows are rolled up and food/coolers are covered. Keep a clean campsite and never bring food in your tent. If back county camping, use a bear canister or hang your food from a high, thin tree branch away from camp.
Residents... try and make sure you don't have any food, trash or pet food accessible to wildlife. Make sure those trash cans are locked, too. |
