High voltage hazard corrected this morning

Was your UPS acting odd this morning? Residents in different areas of the village had UPS trouble lights flashing as the SCE voltage climbed from the norm of 120 volts to 135 volts. Not quite high enough to damage equipment but enough for sensitive items to react. SCE responded very quickly and corrected the problem in less than hour. If you ever have lights getting brighter, strange hums in audio equipment or flickers in electronics it's best to check the voltage or call SCE, ASAP, so they can respond PDQ. Higher end UPS back up units for computers have a TRIM indication that lights when the unit is lowering voltage that is too high. The SCE number to report hazardous conditions is 800.611.1911. Don't call this to complain about billing, but high voltage is a definite hazard. |
